Hello librarians! The Waltham Public Library’s Real Talk teen leaders—with the support of the WHS Book Club—will be hosting a conversation with area author Jennifer De Leon. Her novel Don’t Ask Me Where I’m From tells the story of Liliana Cruz, a Boston teen from an immigrant family who is accepted into the METCO program—and the challenges she faces as she is forced to confront racism at her new suburban school.
Real Talk Presents Author Jennifer De Leon

Streaming live on YouTube at bit.ly/realtalkdeleon
This is the first Real Talk event that we’ve opened up to all ages—and since it’s virtual, all of the Internet! So we hope you’ll promote it to your youth—but we also invite you all to tune in if you’re interested! The event will be streamed live on YouTube with our teens engaging the author in conversation. Attendees won’t be visible or audible but they will be able to comment and ask questions of the author. And while we’d love for folks to attend concurrently, the video will be available to stream after-the-fact. Flyers are attached as PDFs and JPGs if you’d be willing to help share the info. And of course you can repost from @WatchCityTeens or @RealTalkWaltham.
Thank you! Be well!
