2020 is the 100th anniversary of women’s right to vote. As suffragettes, Black women were often sidelined. And even though women won the vote in 1920, it wasn’t until the 1965 Voting Rights Act that Black women had the same access – 45 years later.
The Waltham Public Library is hosting Wellesley College’s Kellie Carter Jackson next Tuesday, September 22 at 7 pm to talk about this important history. She’s an amazing speaker, as funny as she is insightful.
