Join us virtually on Wednesday, October 20th at 7pm for the kickoff for our five-month community read of Palaces for the People: How Social Infrastructure Can Help Fight Inequality, Polarization, and the Decline of Civic Life. The book was named one of the best books of the year by NPR and longlisted for the Andrew Carnegie Medal for Excellence in Nonfiction. Author Eric Klinenberg will deliver an address via Zoom on the book’s main topic, the importance of shared community spaces.
Interested community members can register here, and registered attendees can pick up a free copy of the book at the Library.
This event is partially funded by an LSTA grant for Civic Hub from the Institute of Museum and Library Services and the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners, and by the Shrewsbury Public Library Foundation.
