Virtual Program: 2022 McIver Lecture Series-The Story of Mercury, the Element, Presented by MIT Professor Dr. Noelle Eckley Selin on ZOOM

Date: Sunday March 20, 2022

Start Time: 2:00 p.m.

Location: Zoom

Do you know the surprising properties and history of the chemical element mercury (Hg)? What is the story of mercury pollution—its continuing environmental impact, who is most greatly affected, and global environmental justice questions it raises? Our speaker will give us insight into these questions.

Presented by MIT Professor Noelle Eckley Selin, Ph.D. http://mit.edu/selin, an atmospheric chemist who studies mercury and other hazardous substances and applies her research to help inform global efforts to regulate toxic chemicals and persistent organic pollutants (POPs).

This event is sponsored by the Trustees of the Needham Free Public Library in memory of former director Vivian D. McIver.
