Founded by Atlantic staff writer James Parker, the Black Seed Writers Group has been meeting every Tuesday morning since 2011, in downtown Boston, to provide a space for homeless, transitional and recently housed writers. The group’s output has been extraordinary – a steady stream of poetry, protest, prayer and reportage from the streets and shelters of the city. The Pilgrim, the magazine of the Black Seed writers, has been featured in the New York Times, the Boston Globe and Poets & Writers, and the group’s private imprint, No Fixed Address Press, has published individual works by over 70 writers.
