This is a reminder about a special event Brockton Public Library has this week. It is our first ever talk with an international author. Her name is Haley McGee. In her book The Ex-Boyfriend Yard Sale, she interviews her exes and enlists the help of a mathematician to create a formula—with eighty-six variables—for the cost of love. Female desire, heartbreak and the chance for integrity in the aftermath of both are held up in this original and daringly candid memoir. As Haley interrogates her romantic triumphs and failures with unflinching detail and hilarity, her exquisite prose elevates this all too human conundrum: Is love worth it?
Haley McGee is an actor and writer. She has appeared on Murdoch Mysteries and Doctor Who, acted in many plays, done lots of voiceovers and performed loads of improv comedy. Her award-winning, critically acclaimed, solo shows have toured internationally and been translated into four languages. She has also written plays, created installations and hosts The Cost of Love podcast.
Born and raised in a mid-sized Canadian city, she studied and worked in Toronto for a decade before moving to London, England, where she now resides. The Ex-Boyfriend Yard Sale is her first book.
The talk is on this Saturday, March 12 at 2 PM via Zoom. Please register at bit.ly/haleymcgee.
